Since 2008, the Grüne Soße Festival has revolved around the all-important question: who makes the best Grüne Soße? Over the course of the eight-day festival, a total of 49 restaurateurs fårom Frankfurt and the surrounding region put their skills to the test to craft the ultimate Grüne Soße.
The Grüne Soße Festival is a staple of the Rhine-Main region’s event calendar and delights audiences every year with its unique blend of culture and culinary competition.
The audience is the “expert jury”! Every evening, 650 guests taste 7 small glasses of each competing restaurant’s distinct Grüne Soße variation. Potatoes and eggs, first-class wines and apple wines, beer, and soft drinks are served alongside — all included in the ticket price. At the end of the evening, voting cards are distributed, and the audience chooses that evening’s winner. In the grand finale, all seven winners then compete against one another.
The culinary competition is part of a first-class show program featuring rotating guest artists from comedy, music, cabaret, and acrobatics.
Naturally, the quest for the best Grüne Soße takes center stage, and everyone wants to win—but never fiercely; always with plenty of humor and mutual respect.
Over 5,000 guests, 49 restaurateurs, and renowned artists — together, they celebrate Frankfurt’s beloved Grüne Soße across eight spectacular evening shows!
