The Museum Reinhard Ernst (mre) opened in 2024 to house the large abstract art collection belonging to the entrepreneur and philanthropist who gave the museum its name. Discover key abstract works by artists including Tony Cragg, Friedel Dzubas, Helen Frankenthaler, Katharina Grosse, Georges Matthieu, Robert Motherwell, Michael A. Müller, Morris Louis, Atsuko Tanaka, Frank Stella, Wolfgang Tilmans and many more. The airy and light galleries were specifically designed to accommodate large-scale paintings and allow visitors to fully immerse themselves in colour and form. With its clear sight-lines and abundance of natural light, the museum, built by the late Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki, shows off the paintings to best advantage while also enabling visitors to appreciate Wiesbaden’s leafy setting.
